I love to watch Keira play!
{& of course, this totally made me think of Stonehenge!}
A bit fuzzy, but I absolutely adore this shot of Keira giggling as we were playing around making funny faces at each other one day. LOVE.
Handwashing the neat thrift store finds that our neighbors,
Pam & Jim, gave us for Keira.
So thoughtful.
Fire broke out up the road. Power went out shortly thereafter. We had the door open for light & air as it was dark & starting to get quite warm in the house.
The power was out most of the day, even at the Arco across the street. I've never seen a mint green fire truck before... way cool! Keira & I ended up going to the Starbucks on the other side of the Arco for a cool drink & croissants, and to charge up my cell, as they still had power, thank goodness!
Apparently, it was the phone company, working near these power lines, that started the fire. You can see the scorched trees at the top of the hill. Close to homes, but none were lost, thankfully.
Keira & I ended up taking our milk & ice pops with us to Ana's to stay the night, so they wouldn't spoil & so we could head to the L.A. Zoo in the morning! Bob wasn't in the dark too long though, as the power was finally restored shortly after 8 that night.
New to our yard this year, & they're so tall!
Lush yard, full of flowers.
Found this preschool workbook for $1 at the goodwill bookstore!
She loves it!
Keira in front of the Krikorian Theater!
A rather special occasion as we haven't been to a movie in a couple years! We actually saw two movies this weekend! First, the second Star Trek installment. Keira actually really enjoyed the beginning, but slept through most of it, as we had planned. The second movie we saw was Epic, which we thought Keira would really enjoy, but it was a bit beyond her.
The mural & copper ceiling above the concession counter! So neat!
Another view of the lobby, with another mural & more copper ceiling. Keira had a blast just dancing around it, as if no one was watching & it was her own personal stage. The usher really got a kick out of her though. We had an enjoyable time! Such a full week!
What an enjoyable post. Remember what you said about Heidi's memory, it sounds like Keira has it too--maybe she remembers the pre-existance about stone hedge therefore she could re-create it with her blocks. Or with her great memory she could re-create it from one of Daddy's movies.
ReplyDeleteThe mint green fire truck was certainly interesting. I have NEVER seen a mint green fire truck. It is too bad that beautiful California has to be so dry. I can always remember worrying about fires when I lived there...actually I really worried more about earthquakes. The soil is so FERTILE in California the seeds from the neighbors can just blow in the wind and land on your soil and grow--or do you think the animals transplant them? I noticed one of your planters in your yard that I haven't seen before. I think it was out front and consisted of many pots on one big pot with many plantings in it.
The theater that Keira danced in was certainly beautiful with it's Murals and Copper Ceilings. What is Epic about???? I noticed that Sean took Lance to it, but Sean didn't think too much of Epic.

We actually had another huge fire nearby, just today! It burned more than 200 acres! It was in a nearby neighborhood, but we could see & smell the smoke. Luckily it wasn't too thick, but I'm sure some of the members of our ward were affected. Yikes! Looked like they were able to save homes though. Only one was slightly damaged. That makes 4 nearby fires in the last two months! Sheesh! I think most of our seedlings & plants come by way of gardener, Bob, who plants & collects seeds & cuttings to grow new plants. Not sure how much can be credited to the birds & winds. I think the planter you're referring to is one that Bob just filled up recently, & hung up by the front door. Epic is about the woodland fairies. It was cute, just a bit too scary & grown up for Keira. She was actually more interested & less frightened in the beginning of Star Trek, which is just plain odd if you ask me. I figured it would be the other way around. Oh, well.
DeleteOh, I always forget things. Those were super cute clothes your friends got Keira. Has she wore any of them??--I would like to see some on her.

Hahaha, I had to go back & look at the pictures to figure out what you were referring to. I didn't make it very clear. Sorry about that. The clothes are for Keira, but they are Barbie clothes for her Barbie doll, not actual clothes for Keira. On the photo it says, but you probably can't read it. Anyway, sorry for the confusion. :-)
DeleteWell Shiloh, I went back a looked and sure enough it said "Drying Barbie's clothes" on the photo. It was big enough to see however it was separate from your own writing so I just didn't see it. I really loved Barbie"s clothes however. They were kind of "artsy" and I thought they would be cute on Keira for stay at home play etc.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad always collected seeds too so I guess Bob comes by that naturally. I think that is a strawberry planter that I liked and Bob filled with succulents and flowers...probably didn't have strawberry plants so he substituted.
That is odd about Keira enjoying Star Trek more than Epic. I guess children (under 5) are like old people and they will fall asleep if they have to sit still too long.
So glad Bob is feeling better.

Yes, that's right, it's a strawberry planter that he planted with succulents. We have a few strawberries, but they are planted in a different planter. About the movie, we planned to go when we knew Keira would be tired for a nap, so I think that helped. Yes, Bob is feeling better, thanks!
