The Dahlke's were kind enough to allow us the use of their car for running our errands while they are away for Thanksgiving vacation, so we were quite excited to have the opportunity to get things done & do some recreational things as well. {Can you tell Keira is excited?} It's a nice old Cadillac; reminds me of driving the Olds...essentially boats.
First stop...dinner at the Redlands KFC! It has been a while. This time we went because our cupboards were bare & we desperately needed to do some grocery shopping!
Now with a full tummy, nap time!
Then to Trader Joe's to get us some pie pumpkins.
Keira loves to see this mask they have hanging on the wall there when we first walk in.
After our grand fall on Saturday morning, mama was off to donate blood.
When we went to the movie theater in Banning, we saw these murals there around the parking lot. They are pretty cool. This train is the left half the mural...
and here is the train station on the right half.
This smaller mural faces the larger train mural from the opposite side of the lot. It portrays the Banning Opera House...in the olden golden days I presume.
This is the front of the small, renovated, historic Fox Theater in Banning.
When we had arrived home from the laundromat, we discovered that Keira had decorated herself with stickers along the way! You cannot tell from the photo, but they were also down the fronts of her legs. {Keira's eyes always end up closed if my camera flashes & it's dark. The camera is slow & always allows her enough time to blink, darn-it!}
One day we made a stop at the Home Depot. Keira absolutely adored all the Christmas lights & display items!
After our failed attempt to get Keira her esophagram on Tuesday, we got a little breakfast & headed to the park.
This is one of the many little playgrounds they have at the Yucaipa Community Park. Keira is in the middle of the jungle gym & Bob is off to the right, looking into the trees to see what seeds he can gather. He is forever gathering rocks, seeds, or moss where ever we go.
Finally, a tree with beautiful fall colors! We have maples & others near our home, but they just drop their leaves & almost instantly turn brown. I enjoy the color changes. The azure blue sky is a lovely complement.
We also were able to get to a WIC appointment & do some grocery shopping at WinCo {yay!}. Keira has another appointment with her pediatrician next week, & that's about it for our being out & about. It's been fun!
I am so glad your neighbors lent you their car while they were out of town for Thanksgiving I have missed the good ole days when gas wasn't so expensive and everyone had a BIG car. I loved the Cadillac and Olds and all the beautiful chrome on the outside. I remember we used to take a 10 hr trip for $10.00, and it was so comfortable and the kids didn't have to to be strapped in car seats, and they could climb between seats. It was truly easy living.
ReplyDeleteHow often do you give blood? Once a month, once a year? What a dutiful girl you are.
That is neat that Bob collects, seeds, rocks, moss where ever you go. He is truly a Johnny Appleseed!!
The Mask at Trader Joe's was very interesting. I am glad it doesn't scare Keira. I could tell she was healing.
The train station was neat to look at. Do you think the picture of the snow was the foothills of California or Montana?

Wow, that would be something...a 10 hour trip for $10! I know what you mean about the easy living. Could you imagine Marvin & Emma with all those kids & having to have them in car seats & booster seats? They'd have to drive a bus like the Duggar's! LOL That was the first time I've given blood in a while. I'm not allowed to donate again until the end of January 2013. Gotta give the blood a chance to replenish itself. No, the mask doesn't scare Keira, & yes, she is healing rather well. I didn't notice any snow in the murals but it would be California, not Montana.
DeleteWell, I looked again, and doesn't the mural with the BIG train--have snow all around on the ground?
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite shows is "19 kids and counting". That Michelle is something else. Who never raises their voice? She is always so sweet, and thus not a real human being to me. But I still love her. I also like "Little People, Big World". Did you watch that? I use to watch "Jon and Kate, plus eight". Ever seen that one? I was so sad when Jon and Kate divorced and that stopped the show. It was not as good without Jon to argue & fight with.

I think it's just a gray ground, not so much snow, but who knows, I could be wrong. I've only seen a couple of the episodes with the Duggars. Never watched the other two shows. I'm not much of a TV watcher. Even when I have it on, I'm usually doing something else. :-) I go through phases though. Right now I will sit down to watch football sometimes, but I always record so I can skip the commercials & all the in between time-wasting stuff. The games don't take as long to watch when your just watching the football & not the rest. Funny, I never liked football until Keira was born. Bob & I would watch parts of the games together as a way to de-stress a bit, when she was in the NICU.
