Mama's Birthday

I had all these plans to get lots of great food pics of our Thanksgiving dinner this year, but Keira was long overdue for her nap, dear hubby & I were both cranky, and I was in a hurried frenzy just trying to get it all done so Keira could eat & sleep. Suffice it to say, Thanksgiving was a bust, and I did not get a single snapshot the entire day. So, I'm just fast-forwarding to my birthday the following day.

Keira & I headed to Starbucks for a free birthday beverage & she tried out their new snowman cookies!

At first, I told Bob I wasn't going to open my birthday card because it wasn't addressed to me, haha! Who gets the "M" in mommy upside down? Bob does, that's who!:-)

On the back of the card he tells this story: "No matter how hard I tried to talk Keira out of getting this card for your birthday, she wouldn't have any of it. Once she saw the flashing lights and heard the music- that's all there was to it. This was & is the coolest card she has ever seen!" Bob told me he had tried talking Keira into one of the other cards that had music & lights, but she had her mind & heart set on this card.

Seems innocent enough. A couple of bunnies, taking a moment to show each other some love...

Then when I opened it up, it was like... okay, maybe a lot of love! This photo just doesn't do this card justice. Not only are the bedroom lights on low, but there are flashing heart lights across the headboard, the card is vibrating, & some sort of breathy porn music is playing...bow chicka wow wow! Oh boy, did this just crack me up!

Especially that Keira simply loves it so much!

You think?

Bob also got me this cool body pillow for the sofa. {I always need a pillow behind my back.} Keira was quick to claim it as her own.

My awesome sister, Stel, also sent me the coolest of charm bracelets from Pandora, the jewelry store where she works. It came with a charm of a little girl, representing Keira. I just realized, however, that I have not taken a photo of it yet! Darn! So instead, I am sharing with you a photo of her charm bracelet! {So cool! Hope you don't mind, Sis!} I hope mine looks like this some day! I love it! Thanks, Sista!

  1. Your Birthday card was a hoot. I can see why it was so fascinating to Keira. The look on her face as she opened the card was priceless. Your body pillow was great. Do you have a bad neck or back that you try and comfort with the body pillow? Many people in our family suffer with neck or back trouble. Marie and I were talking one day about the neck and how I crunch up the pillow just right so I can get the right support for my neck. Marie laughed and said,
"I always wondered why Weldon crunched his pillow like that when he slept".

I was so looking forward to your Thanksgiving pictures this year. Oh well, I can always look at the ones from last year. Did you get your sugar pumpkins pies made? Did you have Turkey or Chinese food? I still remember the year you brought Chinese food for Thanksgiving Dinner. Reminds me of "Christmas Story"--when the dogs ate the turkey so the family went out for Chinese food. Heidi made a yummy Turkey and mashed potatoes & gravy, dressing, sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, bean casserole, and pumpkin pie. They said on the news that despite the fact that everyone says they feel like they gained 5 lbs. that we actually only gain 1 lb for that great meal.

I loved the look on Keira's face when she saw the snowman cookie at Starbucks.

The bracelet from Stel was beautiful. I have always admired those bracelets.

Love and miss you, Bob and Keira.

    Happy Holidays

    1. I just need lower lumbar support when I sit on the sofa since my legs are short & my lower back doesn't hit the back of the sofa. I also, like Weldon, need neck support when I sleep. Sorry about the lack of Thanksgiving pics. We still have enough homemade pumpkin & stuff to make another pie, so I think I will sometime soon. We had turkey dinner, although Chinese sounds wonderful except even more work! Heidi's dinner sounds wonderful! The picture of the bracelet is actually Stel's. The one she sent me only has one charm so far. I just haven't got a shot of it yet. Another thing on my to-do list! We love & miss you, too!

  2. Yes, dear Shiloh, I got that the bracelet you showed was Stel's and not yours personally as you had to collect more charms for your bracelet as it came with "one". I love these bracelets because you can pick the charms up that mean something special to you. How much are the charms???? are they sold anywhere else than Stel's work. Can't wait to see when it is complete. Sorry I don't always make myself clear when expressing my self.

Oh,while we are expressing I don't always make myself clear---I looked at the Big train again---aren't those tire tracts made by a car or truck in the snow by the Big train???--that is why I thought it was snow on the ground rather than just a grey painted background???What do you think again--still grey background or snow? Maybe I am being too precise and it really doesn't matter. Anyway if it is too maddening, we will just forget it.

    Love you, Joy

    1. The charms vary in price. Some are $40, some $60 or more. No apologies necessary. In the big train painting, no, they aren't tire tracks, they're the train tracks, just from another train line I think. So I think it's still just gray ground. Did you look at the other half of the painting with the cars & train station? Perhaps it would give more perspective. You're more comical than maddening.:-) I don't mind the questions or hearing your perspective.
