Straight out of bed & into the car seat in her pajamas, Keira quickly fell back to sleep. I was glad though, so she would be awake & in a good mood once we got to the Garnet Hill casting &, of course, not having to need a nap once we were at the beach!
After the casting & a bite to eat, we found a spot in the sand & planted our little sunbrella!
It was a busy Saturday afternoon at the beach! I practiced taking a couple panoramic shots. In this one, you can see the Santa Monica Pier off in the distance to the left, & our little blue sunbrella on the right. Keira is standing in front of Bob.
Oooo, loving that warm sand between her toes!
Keira was so cute, just standing there & watching the waves come in. Every wave resulted in smiles & giddiness!
After we played in the waves a bit, she wanted to play in the wet sand, & so we did! It was comical because she would keep going between me & Bob to fetch pails & shovels, or scoops of dry sand just to throw into the watery sand, but her little compass is not yet developed, so Bob & I had to watch her like a hawk as she would totally walk off in the wrong direction or approach total strangers thinking they were one of us! Goodness gracious! Here is our little mermaid, Keira!
Yes, that would be sand in her hair! Ugh!
She & I started playing this game where we would take turns throwing balls of wet sand into the water puddles to see how big of a splash we could make! Trying to outdo one another, we were giggling the entire time! Keira won.
Searching for little sea shells in the sand by the sea shore.
Of course, a trip to the beach just wouldn't be as fun without actually rolling around in the sand! Yes, I'm still trying to get the sand out of her new swimsuit.
...also running & dancing!
Walking on the boardwalk towards the pier. The pier & Pacific Park in the distance on the left, & Muscle Beach in the center, with all the ring swings & things!
Acrobatics at Muscle Beach.
Bob, helping get the sand out of Keira's little shoes.
On the pier. It always makes me think of Forrest Gump. I swear I'm gonna eat here someday!
The macaws perched on their bike, taking a break from their theatrics I presume. I told Keira the blue macaw is just like Blu from the movie Rio!
The ferris wheel & roller coaster at Pacific Park. We didn't ride, but it was fun to be there & see the rides going. I swear this is the quietest roller coaster I've ever heard...or not!
Keira was so excited to ride the carousel, although you can't tell from this shot. Bob didn't have too much luck getting any good shots with my camera as we whirled by, & Keira was actually trying to find him in the crowd here so she could wave. She loved it so much we had to ride it twice, though!
She was a sad & disappointed little girl when it was time to head home, so Bob & I were working hard to get some giggles out of her!
Farewell sunset.
Dear Shiloh: that was worth the wait. I loved the many pictures you took while visiting Garnet Hill and the beach. How is Garnet Hill different from GUESS? Is it a branch of GUESS or entirely different? Since Keira took a morning nap how did she do at the session? She looked adorable sleeping all curled up in her car seat.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had the sun-brella so you could easily find your spot when returning. I loved seeing you, Bob and Keira at the beach. The picture of sand in her hair was hilarious. Where is the beautiful swim suit now? Outside until you get all the sand out? I don't imagine you have a garage to put it in? We always left all the "sand" towels and suits in the garage until we had time to shake them out etc especially after coming back from Boyer.
I am so happy Keira got this experience. She will probably DREAM about it.
By the way--is your roof fixed? Any more down pours?
I am glad you got to rent a truck to go. It must of been nice to get out of town for a day. Are you having a hay day with the truck being able to drive here and there whenever you want. I know you are thinking about the cost of gas. Why couldn't the Fairbanks been rich? I have heard we were in another life and we didn't use our money well so in this life we are poor.
Love Joy
Garnet Hill isn't a place, it's just a clothing company, completely different than Guess. We actually went to Siren studios on Sunset Blvd for the casting. I'm not sure if the shoot would be there or not. For the GUESSkids.com job, the shoot was at Guess Studios in LA. It was a direct booking, which means they just looked at Keira's portfolio on the Zuri website & hired her directly from her photos! We loved that! Going to LA for castings are generally just time & money consuming & may or may not actually lead to being booked for the shoot. I would LOVE to be able to get Keira hooked up for some professional photos sometime, as they generally lead to a lot more direct bookings & less castings. I'm impressed she get requested as often as she does with my Sally-cam photos, that's for sure! I'm sure professional shots would make a huge difference! This week we are going to a Hanna Andersson casting. This is a closed request casting which means by invitation only. It's at a Hilton Hotel in Calabasas, near LA. It's another clothing company. I just look them up online. If you're interested, here are the websites: garnethill.com & hannaandersson.com. Oh well, sorry to go on & on. More information than you wanted I'm sure!
DeleteAt the casting she did just fine. We were in & out in 10 minutes. Filled out a form, they took some pictures for measurements & that was it! I love it when they are organized & don't waste our time! I thought Keira looked cute in her car seat, too! Bob noticed her & I asked him to take a picture.:-)
Yeah, having a garage or mud room would be fabulous! But we don't. I just left the bag with the beach blankets at the front door until we went to the laundromat. The swimsuits I am working on washing out by hand. They are in a bowl in the kitchen as I type. The rest was piled in a corner of the bathroom until I could get them rinsed/washed out.
I'm glad, too! Keira gets so few experiences away from home, so it's really exciting for her. She even loves looking at all pictures & reliving it! I have lots more pics. I think I'll do a separate album on FB for the beach pics. No roof fixed yet, just patched. But luckily no downpours as of yet. *fingers crossed* Yes, the truck has been fun, but for the cost of fuel, it has mostly sat in our parking spot these recent several days. Your comment about us not using our money well cracked me up! I prefer to think our riches await us in Heaven.:-)
