One of Keira's favorite discoveries of the summer would have to be glitter pens! One Sunday in our Sunbeam class we were using glue & glitter to work in our journals. Keira really enjoyed it, but I didn't think loose glitter would be ideal if I didn't want it in every nook & cranny of the house! So when I came across these Elmer's washable glitter pens, I thought they might just do the trick. Oh boy, did they ever! She just loves the glittery goo! She calls them color paints & has even developed her own technique of color painting! Here are the basics:
1. Set up your work station with paper towels, popsicle sticks, pad of post-it's, observing parent, & of course...glitter pens! (aka: color paints!)
2. Get excited about your choice of sparkly, glittery goo!
(I love this shot! Yup, this is how exciting it is!)
3. Apply goo to post-it.
(At first she used larger pieces of paper, but they also called for much bigger globs of goo!
Little post-its reduce the amount of goo needed:-)
4. After applying one or two colors, spread them around with a popsicle stick!
(By the way, the little hanging butterfly was a recent gift from Auntie Char:-)
Here's a better view!
5. Top with another post-it & smash!
You have now created your color paint sandwich!
6. Peel post-it's apart for the big reveal!
7. Watch a little television & repeat, repeat, repeat!
That's all there is to it! Voila! Color Painting! I love to watch our budding little artist (pronounced: art-eeest!) at work! Needless to say, we have many a pile of curled, glittery post-it's lying around. Don't be surprised if you start receiving them in our correspondences! tee hee!
Dear Shiloh: The glitter pen by little art-eeees Keira was fun to see. I especially like her joyous face as she is glitter penning. That face was so hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the colors your new camera captured. I guess you are getting use to it. I especially loved the colors of the butterfly that Char sent. Everybody you know seems to have excellent taste.
Does Keira still talk about her experience at the beach? How did her next photo shoot go? --on Thursday?
Keira is so lucky to have you and Bob as parents. You make her life so fun & interesting.
Please tell Bob I love and miss him.
Love Joy
Thanks, Joy! I love to see Keira doing things she loves. And yes, the faces she makes are so funny sometimes! I'm glad when I can capture them. I am getting a bit more familiar with the settings on my camera now, thank goodness. But I still feel like it takes so long for me to figure it out sometimes that I miss some good things! Oh well. Yes, we have wonderful family with great taste! And yes, Keira still talks about the beach, & keeps asking to go again. We just went to another casting on Thursday, no shoot yet. But I am going to post about our day so I won't bother with all the details of our day right here, but we are still waiting to hear back from Garnet Hill or Hanna Andersson. No word yet. We love being Keira's parents. You are so kind to think she is so lucky to have us. I can only hope she will feel the same way one day. I sure will pass along your message to Bob. He has gone to the pharmacy at the moment. He was having a video chat with Sean earlier for Lance's birthday. He turned 2 today! Keira will be 3 in 3 weeks! Time surely does fly & they grow up so fast, don't they? We send our love to you & yours as well! xoxo
