Ellie

Well, I finally got a shot of our big sunflower in the morning. I thought by 7am the sun would surely be shining on her, but it wasn't; & we had to be on our way to an appointment. I am usually still in bed at this time of morning, that's for sure!

I also had the hubster pull out the tape measure & see how tall she is...11 feet tall! Yes, definitely the tallest sunflower I have ever seen in my life!

I asked Keira what we should name her, & she said Ellie! It reminded me of my cousin, Ellie, who loved sunflowers when she was young. I noticed Ellie is starting to get just a bit top heavy with all those seeds developing in that gorgeous flower of hers. Bob may have to stake her up before she topples over!

  1. Dear Shiloh, I had to comment on this blog for the 3rd time. The pictures are just so interesting to me. I love the height of the sunflower and seeing Bob and Keira next to it---11 feet is just wonderful. I love how you and your camera got the different colors on the sunflower. If Bob could get a sunflower to grow in Albion, you can understand why Ellie is so BIG in climate perfect California. It was so nice talking with you yesterday. Love Joy

    1. Thanks, Joy. She is an interesting sunflower, to be sure. She's practically a tourist attraction in our front yard, as several people have stopped by to ask how we got her to grow so big (it was all Bob's doing) or if they can take pictures of her!
