Snippets 5.52

I made some stamps for Keira from a couple small potatoes. She chose the shapes & I did the cutting. Add some color, & stamp, stamp, stamp! She liked it!

A chilly but beautiful day to get out of the house. Keira had so much fun collecting up little bits of mother nature in her basket!

I was lying in bed, awake, & decided to get up. I turn the light on, bend over to get my socks on, & this is what I see! Yikes! It didn't exactly look like the black widows I grew up with in Arizona, but it did have a red spot that was clearly visible with the flash of the camera! Also, she had only built this web across nearly the entire entryway to the kitchen in only about the 30 minutes I had been in bed! Quite the industrious spider, she was! Well, we didn't have any bug spray, so I thought perhaps Lysol would do the trick. It might as well have been spider perfume, considering the level to which she was phased, which was NOT AT ALL! So I tore down her newly laid trap, & she went to hide underneath the shelf next to the trash can.

Then I left a trail of notes for Bob to find in the morning so he could find the Lysol laden lady & do away with her! Our hero!

What he takes to & from to work each day.

An ice cream treat while we wait for the laundry to dry. They always give it to Keira for free because it's such a small amount.

For my superbowl French Onion Dip! I would say it's a hit, but I'm the only one who ended up eating it. C'est la vie!

  1. Well french onion dip is my favorite. I would help you eat it. Doesn't Bob or Keira like french onion?

That was scary about the spider. I thought black widows were all black except for red on their bellies. Did Bob find it and depose of it? That was a pretty spider if spiders can be pretty.

I loved the idea of cutting the potatoes into different shapes and stamping them onto paper.

    1. Nope, Bob & Keira don't really like the french onion dip. Just me! My dad wouldn't eat it because it had sour cream in it. And Joe & Chita weren't around, so they didn't have a chance to try it out. Black widows are indeed all black except for the red on their bellies. I don't think it was a typical black widow, at least not like those I grew up with, but I think it was in the widow family for sure. Yes, Bob got her. Thank goodness! She was pretty freaky! :-)

    2. By the way, Joy, I looked it up on Wikipedia & found out it was a brown widow spider. Same family group as black widows, but with smaller bellies & brown instead of black. They, too, have the red hourglass on their bellies & are poisonous as well. Yikes! :-)

  2. That was so interesting about the brown widow spider. Thanks for looking it up on Wikipedia. I am glad Bob deposed of it. That was so funny when you said the Lysol was Spider Perfume. By the way did Bob say if the Lysol got to Miss Spider and knocked her out or was she alive and kicking when he found her?

You said that Joe and Estel parted ways. How is your Dad doing? Is he at Joe and Chita's? Have they said any more about moving to Montana?

Keira's ice cream cone looked delicious. I liked her little basket full of what not's she had gathered from a walk around the yard. Explain whose shoes are peeking out by the basket of nature. Which are your and which are Keira's? You would think, I could tell, but I can't.

    1. She was definitely alive & kicking when he found her. He was the one, in fact, who suggested I only perfumed her with the Lysol. :-) He's doing good, and yes, he's at Joe & Chita's. No immediate moving plans for right now, but they still want to move I think. Keira's little feet are peeking out from the top, & mine from the bottom.
