Snippets 2.52

1st day of our new Sunbeam class. Keira felt a bit out of sorts, I'm sure. We have lots of boys this year!

Fun with scissors & glue!...

Definitely some of Keira's favorite things!...

She loves making a mess of paper all over the floor!:-)

She also loves a good tea party!

Sporting mama's flip-flops.

The day we got into the accident.
So blessed we are...
for Uncle Joe's mad driving skills,
for no injuries,
for no vehicular damage {to Joe's car anyway},
& for simple distractions for a little girl in a stressful situation.

Chicken... it's what's for dinner!
{we also had mashed potatoes & veggies}

  1. Dear Shiloh:

Are you saying Keira was out of sorts in your new sunbeam class because it was full of more boys than girls? If so, I would be out of sorts too!!! That's ok Keira.

I loved Keira wearing your new flip flops. What cool looking flip flops. They look so comfy. How do you like them?

That is horrible about the accident. Thank goodness you are all safe. I remember Chita talking about an accident that no one was hurt in...Same accident? Thank goodness Joe is quick thinking and that he got you out of the accident. How scared were you, Keira and Bob?

Keira is so cute in her P.J.'s cutting up paper and having tea parties with her beloved animals and friends.

Your chicken looked delicious. How long do you cook it to get that beautiful brown crust on it? Tell me what pieces you, Bob, and Keira eat as your favorite. For some reason I am interested. I guess I just remember how the Chicken was divided among the 10 people we had for supper. I know Bob was always hungry. He definitely didn't get enough for dinner. You feed him well, and he looks like he finally gets enough food for dinner.

    1. Not necessarily because there are more boys, although they can be rather rambunctious, but probably more because all the children are new to her this year. The class she knew moved on up to CTR4. Oh, those flip flops are my old pair that I wore all last summer. They were comfy though. I will need to get a new pair this year. Yes, Chita was referring to the same accident. Bob wasn't with us. It was scary but not too terribly so. Yes, I love Keira in her little pink piggy footie jamas. They were also a gift from the Dahlke's. She certainly does love to cut paper & have tea parties. Also stickers & paint! I cooked the chicken on 350 for about 2 hours. I just butter it up, then baste with Wishbone Italian dressing as it cooks. Yum! Bob always eats the white meat of the breast, & Keira & I share the legs & thighs. Wow, one chicken for 10 is definitely not enough in my book, especially when you include guys! I think 1 chicken feeds 6. I imagine the guys would still be hungry! When we have the missionaries over, one chicken feeds 4! Those guys can eat! {I don't really count Keira, as she eats so very little}. When it's just the 3 of us, we always have leftover chicken for days.:-)

  2. Well, on Keira and the sunbeam class, the reason I mentioned the "boys" is I noticed I could only see Keira, one little girl, amongst ALL boys, but I agree that a totally new class would be upsetting also. Keira must NOT like change. I used to say to Martin, "I don't like change, I like things to stay the same" to which Martin replied, "one thing you can be sure of Joy is that change is here to stay". That comment really hit home with me as it sure has proven to be true.

I guess on the Chicken, I need to say, it was probably 2 chickens. I just remember that I felt sorry for Aunt Mary because she always got the tail and the parts that no else wanted. But she never complained, and joyfully just ate her pieces of Chicken. I can't believe my Dad provided food for a family of 10 and shelter and the comforts of living.
I still feel sorry that Bob was always hunger. I guess with a family that size, I would never feel like I got enough either if I were a boy. Because I was a girl I didn't ever feel hungry like Bob.

On the missionaries, I guess they love your food. It always looks so tasty, and I don't think the young men are that great of chefs!! Although I really think you are the exception to the rule even among girls. Bob is a lucky man to have such wonderful, delicious meals to eat.

    1. Yes, you can always count on change. Nothing ever stays the same, does it. My dad will willingly eat wings & backs, usually the pieces left by everyone else. He doesn't mind either. But he gets other pieces, too. I don't like the thought of anyone going hungry either. I have gone hungry before. Not often, but it isn't fun. Bob still eats things that remind me he has gone hungry before, like apple cores, orange peels, peanut & sunflower seed hulls, etc. Thank you for the compliment. Cooking is just something I play at, like pretty much everything I do. I'm just a novice. Although Keira always says I'm a very good "chef"! LOL
