A Peek at Our Week

Time for Keira's 3 year old check-up... only a month & a half late this year. {Sometimes Keira just makes me think of my niece, Aleah. This is one of those shots. Perhaps it's her expression, or her small frame, or both.}

Keira loves to look at the "body books" while we wait in the room for the doctor. Daddy is so good to oblige.

For the past couple weeks, Keira wants to do nothing more than spend time with mama, stickering & coloring in the glittery sticker book daddy picked up for her.

Keira & I were hungry one night, so I fried up some potatoes & added some polska keilbasa, scallions, & scrambled eggs. It was good. Even when Keira saw this photo on my computer she said, "Mama, I want some of that right now!"

It only took a week & a half, over the course of a year! Now for the next project...

Yes, yes they are. Unfortunately, they have to be rationed, as they are $3.50- $5 per box & only come with 5 servings! Yowza!

Keira, speaking for blue lizard, exclaims, "I'm hungry & I'm gonna eat you all up!" Poor little Christmas lights, don't stand a chance.

Here she is, two weeks after her fall, & her scars continue fading nicely.

Playing with Doctor Keira. I had a broken arm, requiring x-ray & cast, as well as some sort of head injury that required a wrap! Yikes!

Another face picture, two weeks after her fall. Her hair is all wrapped up as she is pretending to be a bride on her wedding day. Never did catch a glimpse of the groom though. {Every once in a while I get a shot with my little camera that does Keira's beauty justice. This is one of those shots. It's the color of her skin that is so difficult to capture. Quite stunning, if I do say so myself!}

  1. Dear Shiloh:

    Well you and Stel are sisters so little wonder that Keira reminds you of Aleah. You and Stel are both beautiful girls so little wonder your children are beautiful also. So is Aleah still small. Is she out of high school?

    You certainly did capture Keira's beauty with her hair up in towel as a bride. Her skin was perfect as well as her lips and eyes.

    Your fried potatoes and sausage sure looked like it was cooked to perfection. The potatoes just looked so crisp. This is one of my favorite dishes. How do you get the potatoes this crisp? Your secret?

    Love Joy

    1. Aleah turns 10 years old this Christmas I think. She's such a little doll! About the potatoes, all I can think of is to not crowd the pan, otherwise you steam them more than fry. So I use my largest pan, add the oil, add the potatoes, & turn it on high heat. Also, I try not to turn the potatoes too much until they're starting to brown well, otherwise they get a bit mushy. So only turn occasionally at first. That's about it! They I take the potatoes out when they're nice & golden brown & drain them on a paper towel & salt. I drain most the oil from the pan, then add whatever else you like. This time I sauteed chopped green onions & chopped polska keilbasa. Then I added an egg or two to scramble, & when they were all finished, I tossed them in with the potatoes. Mmmm!:-) Thanks for asking, Joy!

    2. PS. I turn the heat down to medium after cooking the potatoes, to cook the rest. Also, you can use whatever sausage or meat you have, also veggies. Sometimes I just chop regular onion & a hotdog or two. It just depends what we have in the fridge. I like the potatoes with scrambled eggs mixed in though.:-)
