A Peek at Our Week

...or two. We have all spent the past week being quite ill around here, so I've got a little catching up to do!

Keira likes to make good use of the extras we bring home from our Sunbeam class. This time, daddy's helping her out!

Keira has more fun putting stickers & gluing paper into her coloring book than actually coloring in it.

Daddy dug out this board for Keira to play.

Not only did she use it as a slide, but also for some fort building! Yes, this would be Keira, dancing around with her bubble wand, in her hula skirt. So cute!

Keira likes to sit with daddy for a few minutes after she gets out of the tub.

So much for avoiding sugar.

Here is Keira, having raided the donation box to dress up in clothes that are much too small.

At the church for the Halloween Party.

Driving through LA with Joe & Chita. We sure enjoy seeing all the freeway art & beautification.

Halloween socks. That's as dressed up as mama gets.

Goofing around, Halloween style.

Mail-In. The easy way to get 'er done.

Keira loves to bathe, for real or pretend.

Noisy days while they're working on the roof. Better than leaky days, for sure!

Worse than that are the sick days, especially when they land on holidays. Keira was feeling a bit better by evening time, so she got dressed & we took her to trick-or-treat one house, just for good measure. Better than nothing!

Bob carried her. She was pretty excited, even for her short trip.

Then back home, & back to being sick.

French fries & Sprite, for unsettled but empty tummies.

Here's hoping we're all 100% better by Thanksgiving! Ugh!

  1. Dear Shiloh: 5:03 am. What were you doing up at 5:03? Is this the usual time for a night owl? You have always been a night owl but I didn't realize you stayed up till 5 or 6 What will you do if Keira turns out to be a night owl. Tell me, when did you realize you were a night owl? How did School work out? Or did you turn into a night owl after you finished school?

I loved seeing you, Bob and Keira feeling a little better. Keira's witch's costume was so gorgeous. How did you find purple stockings?? She just looked stunning.

I am glad Bob found a board for her to have so much fun with. My Mom taught when my children were small, that you did not need to spend lots a money on toys, that children's imaginations were just as happy playing with pots & pans
    or a board.

I can't believe it that they are still working on the roof. Hopefully it won't pour rain until it is all fixed. I hope it doesn't ruin all the Christmas present etc. Do you think it will be fixed on time, or is it maybe--maybe not?

I saw the pretty flowers outside, since you live in forever springtime land.

Where did you, Joe and Patty go so you got to see the pretty walls on the freeway.

    1. I've been a night owl since I can remember, way back as a kindergartner! Stel & I would stay up all night long playing, & as soon as we would see the sunrise, we would go to bed. Waking up for school has always been a struggle, but with the threat of my dad's big hands, either getting the snarls out of my hair because I didn't leave enough time to do it, or spanking me because I missed the bus, I was most definitely motivated, to say the least! Yes, sometimes I don't make it to bed until between 5 or 8am. Bob thinks I'm crazy. :-)

Keira picked out her own costume this year, & the cute stockings came with it. I thought she looked just adorable, too! I agree with your mom about toys. A simple cardboard box can provide so much fun. I do like getting good educational toys from time to time though. It doesn't rain much here, so there's not much worry about the roof. It has only rained once since we had the leak. I laughed when I read your comment about Christmas presents, as if we have any to worry about! Definitely no worries there! And yes, they should have it done fairly soon anyway. We went with Joe & Chita to LA for Keira's Baby Gap casting. Also, Joe had some appointments to go to. I have more pics of the freeway art, too. Maybe I'll have to do a post just for that!

  2. Shiloh: Tell me about the slippers Bob and Keira were wearing. Are they sole-less? I couldn't see any soles. They were interesting so tell me about them.

I can't believe you and Stel stayed up till sun rise and then somehow you got up for school. I grew up on a farm so my kids love sleep and are used to going to bed at 7pm. My brothers had to get up at 5 each day to milk cows. I am glad we don't live on the farm anymore. It was hard work.

If that Joe's car in the picture going to LA that gets such good gas mileage that you like so much. Somehow I thought he had a truck.

I hope you all get well soon.

    1. They're not slippers, just cut out pieces of paper we used in primary. They just had them wrapped around their ankles & stuck to the top of their feet with a little piece of tape. The lesson was about being a good example, so the feet say something about Jesus being our example. That's all. I don't think we usually stayed up that late on school nights, but we never liked going to bed...ever. I remember having a good friend in high school who liked sleeping a lot. Nope, not me. She'll probably live longer though. No, we we're actually in Joe's car when I took the picture, so it's just a car in between us & the freeway wall. Joe has a Toyota Prius. It's a car, not a truck. Thanks for the get well wishes! We could use them!
