Somewhere in the blogosphere I came across this idea, to ask your child a set of questions, starting at age three & continuing on 'til high school graduation, & pair the responses with a picture to include in photobooks & such, to be looked upon in awe & remembrance of how much they have grown & changed from year to year. And I was inspired, so here they are, the answers to Keira's 25 questions!
{If you're having trouble reading them, just click on the photo to enlarge.}
I found a few of the answers surprising, but the most was probably #24, that Grandpapi was her best friend. I suppose he holds a special place in her heart.
Keira is such a special & blessed little girl. She amazes me every day. She insists on saying all our family prayers most of the time now, & it's so cute because she will look around the room & incorporate whatever happens to catch her eye right into the prayer. "...and thank you for my scarecrow & the corn we got from the pumpkin patch...". Notice them at the top of the photo below?
{Now, that little chalkboard drawing of Bob's is an entirely different story!}
Anyway, Keira will continue with the prayer, repeating things she has heard daddy & mama give thanks for, "...and we're grateful for the food we have to eat, and the clothes we have to wear, for all the hard work daddy do's & for mama for taking such good care of us & all she do's, too..." & she doesn't forget family, "...and we're grateful for Auntie Stel & Auntie Tiff & Auntie Joy...". I tell you, Bob & I have never grinned so much throughout our family prayers, as we do when Keira is giving them. She's such an angel!
On a related note, Keira told her first fib today. Of course, it wasn't a very good fib, as I was aware of it almost as quickly as it escaped her lips, primarily because I knew she & daddy had not been in the kitchen yet this morning, which is where we keep her meds. It went something like this:
Keira: Mama, daddy already gave me my medicine today.
Mama: Really? Which one?
Keira: Both of them! The purple one & the regular one! So you don't need to ask him if he gave it to me because he did.
Mama: Oh, I'm going to ask him, don't you worry!
{Nice try, Miss Keira, nice try.}
I just tickled her & told her she was a devious scoundrel & we laughed & she took her meds.
My baby is 3 years old, & 13 years old, & 23 years old, all rolled up into one! Ugh! What is a mother to do? Try to be a better parent, I suppose. That's another post altogether!
Dear Shiloh: I loved 25 questions on Keira's birthday. That is so wonderful that Joe was her best friend. Grandparents are so wonderful to children because Grandparents have learned from raising their own kids not to be so hard and just love their Grandkids. Can you believe you will be a Grandparent some day? It happens way to fast. I miss my kids as little a lot, but I am happy I raised them to be independent and kind. My Mom used to say "I wish you kids were little again". I always wished I knew what she meant, but I can relate now. Not only is making their birthday easier, but they don't talk back to you.It will be interesting what changes that place next year or remain the same.
ReplyDeleteThat was really funny about the balloon swishing round the room at nights. Yikes is right. That would scare me for sure.
Oh, what happened to your toe????? I can read things if I blow up the picture.
Keira's prayer was hilarious. I liked she was thankful for the beautiful ear of corm and the scarecrow. I can't believe she has learned to tell little white lies already. You have got a smart one there. She strikes me of being a spiritual girl--if necessary maybe you could put in the prayers to help her understand how important it is not to tell little fibs. Hopefully just by talking with her about it will be enough

It's strange, thinking about being a grannie in the future, because I was a stepmom so young & an actual mom so late, I will definitely not be such a young grannie. Keira talks about having babies even now! Yikes! About my toe, I stubbed it one night on the vacuum cleaner in the dark. Bob meant to ask me about it the next morning but forgot. So I find this note on the chalkboard at least several days later! A bit of delay there, don't you think? Bob laughs, saying, "Sorry, I kept meaning to ask & just kept forgetting." Thanks a lot, hubby of mine! LOL Praying about the fibs...excellent idea! I'll have to give it a try!:-)
DeleteDear Shiloh: I need to correct the fist paragraph, last sentence. It doesn't even make sense. But I think I was talking about Keira's next birthday when she is 4. I think I was trying to say it would be interesting to see what things had changed by next yr. For example: Is blue still her favorite color?
ReplyDeleteI look forward to see what has changed and what remains the same.
Love Joy
I figured that's what you meant, but thanks for the clarification, it was sort of cryptic. :-)
DeleteI look forward to it, as well!
