I {heart} Project Life

Oh, how I love getting these bright orange boxes in the mail! This time they included my latest Project Life album & some prints! For those of you who may not have a clue as to what the heck Project Life is, it is essentially a simplified system of scrapbooking developed by Becky Higgins. I discovered Project Life this year, via blogs & Pinterest, & have been happily hooked & keeping up with documenting our life & memories better than ever before! To find out more about Project Life, what it is, how to do it, where to order products, etc., just check out Becky's website here. Unfortunately, I have not purchased any actual Project Life supplies, ie. core kits, albums, page protectors, etc., as it is just not in the financial cards for the time being. But Becky has teamed up with Shutterfly to offer a digital version. And since it's free to create a Shutterfly account, & as most of my photos are on the computer anyway, I chose to do what I could & go this route. Then, when I'm finished with a photobook, I just wait for a sale to take advantage of! Shutterfly often offers free shipping & 40 or 50% off, which makes digital Project Life completely feasible for the time being! Yay! Even though I previously shared the link to my photobook here on the blog, I wanted to actually highlight some of my favorite layouts. So without further ado...

...I present...Project Life: April - June. Here is the front cover. For this, my first year, I chose the Turquoise edition. I also chose to do one photobook for each quarter of the year. I think next year I will break the year up into thirds instead. Becky Higgins has just unveiled several new designs for Project Life, including baby editions! I will need to be jumping all over that to go back & get caught up with Keira's baby books! But for now, here we go!

We did so many fun projects together in this time frame, that the photobook actually turned out a bit thicker than previous books. As we are essentially home most of the time, I've gotta try to keep things interesting anyway! This was bath paint! Keira loved it! We had fun with this several times.

Then there was our salt garden. Way cool!

Project Life is about documenting the every day, not just the momentous occasions such as birthdays, weddings, & graduations.

Another reason this book is a bit thicker is because Keira started shooting her own photos with my camera! So I just had to include a layout or three for her photos!

I love to see her perspective & the shots she chooses.

Simply adorable.

Another Keira layout, but this time with lots of journaling.

Gotta record accomplishments & funny stories!

Also, a list of things Keira says! Hopefully she will get a kick out of this someday!

More every day stuff.

I am doing better about incorporating shots of things & not just people.

It gives a unique perspective of what our life is like at this time.

I honestly wish I had something like this for the past 40 years of my life! (Not that I am actually that old, mind you! Ha!)

Another single page for Keira's photos! So silly!

I love being able to include family in our photobooks!

And more daily life.

It may seem pretty boring, but I have to say that it has a way of making me keenly aware of all that we have to be thankful for. The list is truly endless!

I also like to incorporate garden photos, as I love to take nature shots!

The final page.

Back cover. Well, there you have it. These are the highlights! Now to get to work on the next book!

  1. Is that Edelweiss or Lily of the Valley in the garden? It is heart shaped. Did Bob trim the plant this way? How beautiful and SWEET!

I love your shutter fly scrap book. If I was still working I would definitely do shutter fly.
I just did regular scrap booking in my day. I love your way of doing it and I am glad you discovered Shutter Fly.

    Love Joy

    1. I actually don't know what the little white flowers are. I'm not sure what Edelweiss look like, but I'm pretty sure they're not Lily of the Valley. I got that shot because I liked the heart shape. It just grew that way, no trimming or tricks! I thought it was so sweet, too! I commend you for scrapbooking at all! That's certainly more than what I have done over the years! I'm just so glad to be creating some record of our life for Keira! It's awesome!
