Snippets 38.52

She wanted to ride her bike to the Starbucks for an evening treat.

Our change jars were getting full, so it was time to roll.

Ever since the Dahlke's brought  Pollo Loco chicken for dinner,
when I had my gall bladder surgery,
Keira's been hooked! I think this was the first time,
maybe the second, that we've eaten there since.
Definitely the first time we dined in though.

We sent a photo book off to Grannie this week
and Keira put her mark in it.
Love it! She's getting so good at writing her letters,
and I love her open heart!

The highlight of our week was getting to purchase a car!
It's been a long 6 years without transportation.
It was a little unexpected, as we were only going to look and
maybe test drive, but they have a way of
bending over backwards to get your money! LOL
These fancy indoor cars were definitely not in our budget though.

This is the car we ended up driving off the lot.
It's a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid.
This is actually a Carmax photo, but there will be plenty more
of our own photos forthcoming.
I think this shot doesn't do it justice though.
It's really a pretty car!

I see lots of this in our future.
{playing with the windows}

I'm still trying to get it all figured out! :-)
{not complaining though...not. one. bit.}
Sooo grateful! Did I mention I was in car heaven?
We LOVE it!

Some nights, this is all you get.

  1. Dearest Shiloh, did you really get a car after 6 yrs? I can hardly believe it. It is really pretty, I have a Toyota Corella-- and your car even looks a lot like mine--down to the color, although mine has more silver in it. I think it was called Moon Haze. So Keira got to ride home in it? She must of been SO EXCITED. Did she run outside this morning to look at it? I remember her playing in the Dalke's car when they loaned it to you. Congratulations and have fun--do you think you will visit Granny soon?

    1. Yes, we did! So exciting! We love being able to keep Keira's carseat in the car instead of installing/uninstalling each and every time! It's awesome! At first Keira wanted to go for rides, anywhere and everywhere. So we would drive by the temple or go up the boulevard to the roundabouts and back, or head over to the Starbucks that's a half hour away! The novelty has worn off a bit now and she doesn't request it as often, but we took our first road trip before Thanksgiving to visit Aunt Charlotte, and that was fun!:-) We have a whole list of family and friends to visit, including Sean/Gabby, Grannie, and you!:-)

  2. Well, Shiloh, I am writing again about your new car---New to you, Bob and Keira. How do you like it? Do you at least run out every day and sit in like Keira? Have you gone anywhere yet? I know you just have payments and GAS to worry about and insurance--but was it worth it? I am sure you think, "YES" most the time.

Yes, hurray, for change. I have to use change sometimes when the kids want something from fast food. It comes in handy!! I makes me happy and the kids.

    1. We love it, of course! It gets 35 mpg average, a little less in town with the hills, and a little more on the freeways. We drive around pretty much every day now, for something or other, and I've been using it to bless others, paying it forward for all the rides we've received over the years. I take Sam to the high school every Monday morning and pick her up every afternoon, and I've helped other neighbors and friends with rides because they either don't have transportation or are having trouble with theirs. It feels good to give back. Oh yes, we have insurance and fuel costs and maintenance costs to worry about, but I think it's definitely worth it! We have to do our laundry at the laundromat, and the nearest bus stop to our house is a mile and a half away! It makes it really difficult to get by without transportation, for sure!

Keira is learning about coins and money. Last Christmas she got the cash register and this year she got little piggy banks to separate her saving, giving, and spending money.:-)

  3. Shiloh, what a lovely girl you are. I can't believe you are giving back already. It is so thoughtful of you to give Sam a ride to school on Mondays and a ride home each day from high school. I did not realize you had the car in time for your trip to see Charlotte. If you get to come to Oregon try and come in August... the only month it doesn't rain. Visiting the coast in August is heaven. I haven't seen any pictures of your trip to Charotte's yet. I am anxious to see the countryside and her family.

I hope Keira learns well from you in thinking of others. I think she will in that she has piggy banks for savings, giving and spending. What a wonderful idea. Does Bab like having rides different place so he doesn't have to walk every where?

Going to the Laundromat must be so much easier rather then having to carry all the clothes, soap etc.

I am so happy for you and thank you for enduring.

    1. Yes, I am behind in my blogging. I've been too busy quilting this month, but hopefully will be able to get caught up some more now. Yes, we definitely like having the car! It's a blessing. We never had to carry our clothes the 4 miles to the laundromat, we were always blessed to get ride or borrow a car to get it done. Thank goodness!:-)
