Keira, full of joy! Love this!

A closer look at the collage.
I was teaching her what collages are all about,
& we made this together! Fun!

The scene after Keira tried on & tromped around in every pair of mama's & daddy's shoes she could find in the house!
Silly girl!

For homemade egg rolls... mmmm!

Keira took this little book box she has, & put photos in the compartments. There are holes in the top of the box, so when she closes it, you can still see the photos... her own album! So creative!

After asking mama how to spell the names of some of our friends & neighbors, Keira took to trying to write them out on the chalkboard.

Toasted almond slices & sesame seeds to top our Asian salads, or add into our chicken & rice...mmm!

Daddy's right hand girl!

  1. Thank you Shiloh for notifying me of your post. I get lonesome so it really brightens up my day to see your post early.

Tell me more about your collage. I see a blanket on the lawn and a stream. Also pretty balloons flying in the wind. Flowers etc. Tell me more about your and Keira's thoughts as you made the collage.

That was funny about Keira tromping around in your and Bob's shoes. It has always amazed me that children just love to pretend in adult shoes even though their little feet are falling out of the shoes. Wait for Keira to be older and she will try on your cloths---especially fancy dress up kind. I remember Heidi dressing up in the fur cape and fancy dresses and heels---wobble, wobble. And they like to apply your make-up on themselves and dolls. That is some parodox, playing with dolls and using make-up.

I loved the tool belt Joe and Patty got Keira. She will have so much fun following Bob around the yard. Yum, yum on the roasted nuts for salads and chicken and rice. Did you get the nuts on your trip to Winco?

You encourage Keira's creativity so much. I can't believe she could create her own photo album at age 3. Also that she is trying to write her friends and neighbors names on the chalkboard. Yes she will enter kindergarten on a fifth grade level.

    I love egg rolls!!!

    Love Joy xxx ooo

    1. Keira told me about the collage as we made it, but also reminded me just now. Of course, the cotton balls are the clouds, the green is grass, the blue is a stream, & the pink is a bridge, she says. Then there are the balloons, & lots of flowers (puff balls, bits of straw, & flower stickers are all flowers), little ladybug stickers, & on the left side, 3 flecks of gold! :-) That's cute about Heidi playing dress up in your clothes. I guess I better start accumulating fancy things, as I certainly don't have any right now! :-) Yes, my fave things to stock up on at WinCo is in the bulk foods section, namely nuts & spices, but also sesame & sunflower seeds, & bread crumbs. I need to make another trip soon, as I just used up a good amount of my spices last night when I made a large batch of homemade taco seasoning! Yum! I don't know if I'm going to put Keira in kindergarten yet. I'd actually like to home school her for her early years, at least until she's 7 or 8 years old I think. I suppose we'll just have to wait & see where life takes us & how things go. I love egg rolls, too! & honestly... I've never had any better than my homemade! I'll have to make them for you sometime! (forgive the bragging! LOL) Thanks, as always, for your sweet comments, Joy! I'm gonna have to get all caught up on my blogging in the upcoming week before we head off to NC! xoxo

  2. Dear Shiloh:

I think I remember reading that you and Keira will be gone June 11 - 18???? Do you think you will do any blogging while in NC???? Are you taking your laptop and a rental car to the airport?

On not having any fancy clothes for Keira to dress up in--you do have some nice dresses. I remember how beautiful you looked at Heidi's wedding, and how beautiful you looked next to Dawn while you were 7-9 months pregnant with Keira. Do you have any jewelry. Children love playing in Mama's jewelry box. And of course, heels.

Oh, by the way, I believe in home schooling, so definitely go for it and home school Keira as long as possible. I was going to home school Chris, but my Mother talked me out of it. I guess my Mother and Emma were very social and believed in good socialization. They grew up in the sticks in Canada thus socialization was on their brain. Personally I wish I had home schooled Chris

Do you have time to send me your taco seasoning recipe and you egg roll recipe? Will this have to wait until returning from NC??

    Love Joy

    1. Yes, Joy, we will be gone from the night of the 10th through the night of the 18th, then on the 19th we have a couple of appointments, so I will not be blogging during this time, but hopefully will be by around the 25th or so. But I do have quite a bit of blogging I am hoping to get done this week. :-) I don't have a laptop, just an old desktop. Stela & Jeff don't have a computer at home either. They just have their smartphones. No, I don't have any nice dresses. I can't remember what I wore to Heidi's wedding, & when I was pregnant, I borrowed dresses from my friend, Nolie, which I have since returned. I do have a little jewelry, although not enough that I would let Keira play with it, and definitely no heels to speak of. My egg roll recipe can be found in this blog post from last summer: http://lilycompany.blogspot.com/2012/07/1-cup-water-to-each-100-grams-of.html. Hopefully you can just link to it. If not, I will email it to you. Here's the taco seasoning recipe:
      1 T chili powder
1/4 t garlic powder, onion powder (make sure they're powder & not salt), crushed red pepper flakes, & oregano
      1/2 t paprika (I use 1/4 t regular paprika & 1/4 t smoked paprika)
      1 t salt & pepper
      1 1/2 t cumin
Mix & add to 1# browned ground beef. Viola! We love it!

  3. Shiloh: I forgot to mention on this blog how much I love the first picture of Keira making her first collage. She absolutely radiates happiness. This picture reminds me of my grand daughter, Mo, when she smiles with her whole body. Even Keira's cheeks are smiling. Certain things are universal to all children. They really know how to show true happiness. Keira can inspire this kind of happiness from Bob.
