Highlights of the Week

Keira likes to help her mama in the kitchen.

We made Chocolate Uglies! Some people call them no-bake cookies. The recipe follows.

CHOCOLATE UGLIES
2 c sugar
3 T cocoa
Combine together in medium saucepan. Then add:
1/2 c (1 stick) butter
1/2 c evaporated milk
Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly. So have these other ingredients ready to go:
1 t vanilla
1/2 c peanut butter (I like chunky)
3 c old fashioned oats
When chocolate mixture comes to a boil, while stirring, time for one minute. Remove from heat. Add vanilla & peanut butter. Stir til peanut butter is melted & well blended. Add oats. Spoon out quickly by the teaspoonful onto waxed or parchment paper. Cool. & enjoy. Of course, I hardly even let them cool. I like them like my rice krispy treats, warm & ooey gooey!

***

Keira and I spent an afternoon going to visit our doctors. A little adventure on a hot day. She sure does enjoy riding on the bus, & always makes the people we meet smile.

She is so intrigued with fire hydrants. I wonder if it's their similar size or bright colors that make them so appealing to her.

Of course, she had to bring along her new little backpack.

We had a few minutes to go to the bookstore while our clothes were drying at the laundromat, & we found some really neat books there! Keira picked out a book from Disney's Aladdin, featuring Princess Jasmine on the cover. I was so excited to find an Usbourne summer activity book & a Mary Engelbreit book among several other cute story books. Six children's books for eight dollars. Not bad! So far, Keira's favorite is What Do You Do With a Kangaroo? by Mercer Mayor, a scholastic book from 1973! I picked out this cute snowman book because Keira absolutely adores Snowmen. This past Christmas, she was more excited to see a snowman than any Santa. When she saw this book & I told her the title, she exclaimed, "That's just like daddy!"

After a recent glitter & glue project in primary class, I decided we need to add some sparkle in Keira's art supplies. So the next time we made it to the store, I found her some washable glitter pens. I figured it would be slightly less messy than loose glitter. I think it's safe to say, they're a hit!

I love this shot because ever since she was a baby, this is how Keira looks when she's just so full of excitement that she can hardly contain herself, fists closed, head back, & the biggest smile you ever did see!

I am absolutely in love with this little baby doll outfit of Keira's. Auntie Char gave us the top back when Keira was a baby. It's size 24 months, so we've just been waiting for her to grow into it. Perfect timing, being summer & all! I paired it with a darling pair of shorts from Grannie, & voila! So darling!

  1. You should send the picture of Keira walking with her back to the camera to a magazine. The composition is perfect. I love the way her curls show up and the Monkey backpack on her back. She looks like she is going to school...just marching along minding her own business.

    1. Yeah, in that picture, I used the HDR effect to get her curls to show up. I think she looks so stinkin' cute with that adorable backpack on! I completely agree with your assessment, that she's just marching along, to school or wherever, just minding her own! LOL I'm so glad to finally be getting your comments! It took some doing, but we made it!!!!
